Problem using my laptop microphone and my keyboard at the same time

I just got a yamaha motif mx49 and I really enjoy it. I also received a copy of Cubase AI 6 with it. I have been playing with it for days and downloading other VSTis and it has been great. Here's the problem though. I want to try and mess around with a vocoder vst. I already have the effect on cubase, but I can't seem to get cubase to recognize my microphone built in my laptop. I want to keep using my motif as my driver (it's way better and faster than the one on my laptop) but it does not show my microphone as an input. Any suggestions?

Buy an inexpensive interface and mic. You could probably do it for under $100.

I actually have a decent Saffire 6 interface and a few sennhesier microphones. I guess that makes it seem dumb that I'm trying to use my laptop microphone. I was just trying to avoid setting that back up and using midi cables. Currently my keyboard is plugged into my laptop via usb.

device-->device setup-->click on the down arrow in vst-->select built in microphone
