Problem after reinstall

Recently I purchased a Firewire 410. Using ProTools M-Powered, I recorded some songs without any pops or clicks. I exchanged the 410 for another at Guitar Center because one of the headphone jacks didn't work correctly. When I got my new 410 home, I had to reinstall everything...no big deal. Now, I can't record anything without getting a lot of pops and clicks. Settings have not changed on my computer, but I'll list the specs if you are curious. The only other change is that I added some M-Audio BX5a monitors. I hope this all makes sense to whoever reads it, and I would appreciate some suggestions. (Nothing too sarcastic, please!)

Inspiron 5100 laptop
1G RAM
2.4GHz P4 processor
External Hard Drive for audio files
 
buffer settings? when you reinstall in may have gone to a default setting different from before
 
Thanks for the suggestion. I went into the playback engine settings, and unchecked the "Ignore Errors during Playback/Record" and that seems to be working for now...we'll see. I didn't adjust the buffer size just yet. It is set at 512 samples.
