I'm turning my old 2x12 Marshall solid state into an extension cabinet, using only one of the 8 ohm speakers. I see where things are connected and what I need to do to make a jack

but,

the nubs of metal that the wires between speakers are connected to - I don't need. (since I'm only using one) So must I remove the wire completely, or can I just Cut them; OR, do I need to somehow cut off the metal nubs too.... reason for the question is, will the amp thats driving the single speaker be looking for release/pushing out a load if the nubs and the wires to the other formerly connected speaker are still there? I absolutely must only be using one 8 ohm speaker for this amp.

OK am I crazy? If someone please give me a quick yes or no I'd really appreciate it.

for an experienced person this would take about 5 min.

Heyyy just thought of this - any L.A. area forumite want to help me? You name your price.
I'm in West LA and want to do this early Tommorrow Wed. 3/24

thanks
Alan

The wires between the speakers should just unplug off the lugs, no? If for some reason not, cut the wires off, as short as possible.

great !

I see the wires are crimped in the metal piece that is soldered to the speaker, ; I mean it looks like I can get the entire wire out of the crimped metal clasp thing

so as long as I can pry/uncrimp it, thats enough?

I'll be doing some amateur soldering tommorrow morning

thanks alot

The connectors aren't usually soldered to the lug. You should be able to pull the metal connector right off the speaker lug. They aren't usually on that tight, should pull off with your fingers or pliers if they're difficult.

excellent I see now, thank you

so once the whole wire is out, the amp won't see a load there right?

thanks
