Pro Tools without Hardware...?

I'm sure this question has been asked before, I searched and couldn't find an answer.

Is there a hack/crack something out there that will allow me to run PT7 LE with out my hardware? I want to be able to edit while on the road when I may not have 002 with me. Now, all my equipment is legal so I don't see why someone wouldn't have made something like this already, or maybe Digidesign already made a dongle.

Thanks for all answers, even the dumb ones.

Nope. All versions of PT require their respective hardware. M-Powered requires a appropriate M-Audio interface AND a Dongle. No one has come up with any hack for it.

Yup, you are out of luck as far as i know. Digidesign doesn't offer anything and if their was some crack, i'm sure that many of my friends would tell me. Maybe a used mbox for a dongle? That's all i can think of.

your cheapest solution is the mbox 2 mini. $300. i have a 002r, and an mbox 2. both are interchangable with the software. i'll be honest, i dont mind having the mbox 2 as a portable interface. it has been nice being able to elsewhere to record piano and such..

What does that tell you about ProTools when crackerz won't even crack it? ;)

digi has done a good job protecting their software? ;)

there was a hack for protools free. it unlocked the 8 track limit and allowed 32 i think. it is, however, limited to win98 and os9.

Oh right! The same guys that cannot figure out latency compensation! ;)

HD has it.
and LE does too, to an extent.

but I know some who prefer the manual control of compensating than having an ADC that corrects poorly and having no control to turn it off

They added latency compensation, but about 10 years after every other software did.

A lot of software manufacturers are adding the ability to export projects into other formats to use with other software. Guess which one isn't?

The mbox mini is probably your best bet.

yea, that and it sucked ass too.

Pro Tools is a decent program, but nothing special, but it's not as good as the hype and they will die because of their greed, and they advertise that with the HD you get a "massive sonic improvement" like LE is just a piece of sh1t, and they are giving LE away with any HD purchase, lol, just throwing it away with no extra charge like a piece of crap it is...go with a better program priced more reasonably like tracktion or reaper...pro-tools is pretentious crap.

don't let digidesign limit you and your options, you can't even use vst plugins with LE..

Digidesign is a hardware company. They give away free software with their hardware.

I use Pro Tools 'cause I prefer to use it for editing purposes. I do a quicker and better job than with any other software thus far.

and that's a damn good reason, it's one of the best "quick" editors...but it's not like there's other programs that can't accomplish the same....and soundforge also has more extensive editing if you use that in conjunction with another mtr program (that doesn't limit you if you're not rich)...but again, good reason for you because it allows for very quick editing.
