I am actualy usin cakewalk proaudio with a sounblaster live. I now that pro-tool vs cakewalk would be like lenox lewis vs Peewee herman. but my cuestions are:
-the Digi001 will replace my soundblaster for all audio in my pc?
-can I use the digi 001 sound card to record on my cakewalk?(until I learn how to use pro-tools)
-I do use MIDI very often how about the MIDI in the pro-tools?
-can I use soundfonts on the pro-tools?

the list goes on and on...

any help, thanks!!!!

1. You will still need your soundblaster for windows applications.

2. I don't think so, and you should put the Cakewalk away and practice with the Pro Tools right off the bat, How will you ever learn it, if you still use the Cakewalk?

3. I like it, very simplistic, with pretty much the same capabilities that any other computer based midi.

4. Not sure, someone else can take that one.. :)

Good luck

Hi,
I've been using Digi001 for a year now.

With the new upgrade for XP, if you download it, Your digi will act like a soundblaster for most windows programs including Media Player. I just used it 2 days ago. I have also gamed using my Digi for sound. Every now and then, a software won't recognize it, but very seldom.

I don't think you can record in cakewalk with the Digi but why would you try. Digi is very easy to learn.

I have used midi in Digi. It recorded it well, I was able to edit and quantize easily, and it allowed me to play back the midi and record my keyboard into the audio inputs.

I don't about soundfonts.

Also, with the new upgrade for XP, you get 32 tracks total.Cool.

Is that upgrade available for windows ME or only for xp?, I like the idea of having 32 tracks!!

I have a lot of unfinished songs in cakewalk, so I will be using it for a wile.

So it would be better if I change to xp?

Thanks for the info!
