I just opened up Pro Tools LE 7 right now and the Time Compensation Plug-in only moves audio FORWARD in samples, not BACK. Now I am only getting a larger delay in the recording and it is worse. Help me understand how to use this plug-in right. Thanks.

when in doubt...check the manual (specifically the Plugins manual)
and according to it, apparently the plugin only compensates for plugin delay...it does not move it FORWARD in time too (which is okay for what you need).

First did you check to see how much delay the original plugin was creating? If not, Ctrl+Click (or maybe Windows...or Alt, I can't remember) in the mix window where it says "Vol" at the bottom of each track. Click it a few time to toggle through the displays and you will see "Dly". This is the delay on that track. If it's less than 1024 it should show up as 0. Open up Delay Compensation and add the delay time on that track to the number already in the Delay window (which is 4). So if your delay is 500 samples....change the number to 504.
That SHOULD work for you. Like I said, I don't get to see version 7 until Thursday...but this is going off what the manual and memory serves me. Although, even then I prefered to use the automatic compensation in HD when I came across delays with plugins.

I am using the MAXIM plug-in so it is 1024 samples of delay on the track. I will play around with the plug-in until I can get it to work properly. Thanks.

Well, Maxim is a volume maximizer/hard limiter/dither plugin. It's made to be used on the Master Bus, not on individual audio tracks.

I know, I usually do use it on the master track but I'm just putting it on any audio track just to see if I can get the time compensation plug-in to work.
