Pro drum sound

The kick is too forward in the mix and perhaps a little overcompressed. How do you have the kick mic positioned? Is it inside the drum close to the head? You might want to try micing it a little farther away, and then boosting around 80 Hz in the mix.

Guitars sound PODish during the distorted parts.

I did boost at around 80Hz and the KIK mic was at the hole! Didnt want to boost too much as need to wait till bass is tracked.
I didnt compress it that much, or did I?
I didnt notice a great deal of difference with the compressor on.
Settings for compressor on kik were roughly 3:1, threshold 20dB.
Im thinkin the hats and cymbals are a tad loud maybe.

Podish??!! ha ha. gotta disagree there. Pods sound nothing like that. Pods are worse than that definetely.

I've heard Mesa Boogie rectifiers turn into POD sounds through poor recording technique or bad mics

The kick is pretty loud, I would pull the fader for it down some.
The guitars sound nice in the beginning, but when the heavy guitars kick in they sound a bit too tinny, but maybe thats the way you wanted them to sound.

This is just my opinion, But I would defintely pull the volume for the kick down.

Kick is definitely the weak part in the sound. Just sounds too much like it's almost overdriving or something... just really forced sounding and not as natural as would be best.

maybe angle it different if it's just in the hole? (relative to where the beater is)

yea, ...just pull that kick down a bit. when you mastered it? well it sounds like you did.. the over all compression and boost sounds like the kick is way off the hook and its brigning down the entire volume.

i think if you drop the kick volume, curved out some of the mids.. and a lil reverb on the snare would help things..

I put tonnes of reverb on the snare, dont want to add any more.
I used a marshall DSL100 tube amp with 1960 cab with a 57 and a 58. It wouldnt say i recorded it wrong or anything, will just be the distortion and guitars we used.
Ibanez with some sort of boss distortion and a yamaha with some other sort of boss distortion. I am pretty happy with the guitar tones, but i suppose this is personal preference. I really dont see how anyone can say it sounds like a Pod. I have used pods quite a bit before and they sound nothing like that. They have no air atall its like in your face fakeness. I know there aint loads of air on the guitars in my recording but they aint pod, come on.
The kik probably is a bit loud as with the hats and the cymbals. Im just finally gettting a decent sound from my recording of drums and i probably got a bit carried away.
Cheers alot for all the feedback. Well apreciated.
