I have a frustrating problem--I'm guessing I'm overlooking something simple, BUT a couple of my Pro Audio MIDI files do the strangest things--when dragging a note (in pianoroll view) to edit, a clone of the note is left in the original position. Thus, I can't edit! Everytime I move a note, it leaves a copy of itself.....and they both sound.

This has happened on 2 files--all others, recorded around the same time--seem fine. Windows XP pro. I've gone back to a Win 98 machine, and it does the same thing.

I've used Cakewalk MIDI for years--but I can't figure this one out.

Any ideas? Thanks.....
:)

It sounds as though you have the "draw" tool activated.
Make sure you have the select tool activated.
There is a set of icons in the upper left hand corner of the piano roll view.

Thanks...getting closer

Thanks for the suggestion--but that's not it. However, I notice that right-clicking on notes in the bad files shows 'Channel 2' while notes in all the good files show 'Channel 1.' Do you know how to change that globally? I've tried changing it in Track/Properties/Channel, but it seems to make no difference.

Jim, why don't you zip the "bad" files, and post/attach here, maybe we could figure out the problem... :)

Hey--thanks--great idea. Been out of town, but I'll snip out a bit of the offending file and attach it--

I'm now thinking that this is a copy malfunction, but am no closer to solving it....though I have a feeling that I'm going to smack myself in the head with an SM58 when somebody sets me straight...
