Raccoons-Be-Gone, Inc.
.....got soaking wet during the Super Bowl halftime show.

A natural Tele, a baby blue Strat, and the purple "Artist"-shaped creation all got very wet. I wonder if they survived.

That said, I think he put on the best halftime show in memory. :)

it doesn tmatter if they survived, he can just go get a new one and it doesnt matter. fender proabbly gives them to people like him.

it was great, paul mccartneys was better though

Yeah, McCartney did well, too.

Even if he has to replace those guitars, that halftime show is probably going to be a big career bump for Prince / The Artist / The Artist Formerly Known As Prince. ;)

Once again I'm kicking myself for selling my '72 natural Tele...black pickguard and all.

philboyd, I just recently purchased a brand-spanking new MIA Deluxe Ash Tele with the butterscotch finish, and black pickguard. It looks good enough to eat! :D

Oh, yeah?

Well I just got a brand new Squire Affinity tele in electric cobalt blue, so there!

Doesn't have quite the same ring to it, does it? :o

Hey, it works for me! :)

I'll try to take some tonight, if I remember

Of course one of the problems with that is that my wife doesn't exactly know about this one yet.... :D

But seriously, even though I hated the color, and it had a little ding in the finish, the neck on this thing is incredible. It makes me want to learn jazz chords. It says Affinity on the headstock, but it is nothing like any Affinity or even Squire I've ever seen. I ran across one used American Fender Tele a long time ago that was like this, but it was almost $700 used. I got this for $145.

FWIW, over on the FDP (Fender) forum, they are saying that it wasn't a Tele but a Hofner Tele copy he has had for decades.

I haven't been over there in forever. I kinda forget about it. I used to hang out there all the time, mostly lurking. I guess I just don't like the way it's organized as well.

Do you guys think those guitars survived the rain? None of them were exposed for more than 3 minutes or so, but it was awfully wet out there.

Survived the rain? That was the least of their problems. The "artist" guitar got tossed at someone at the end. I jsut know Prince needs to do an album of Jimi covers. (I know its a Dylan song, but even Dylan said it became Jimi's once he heard it) ;)

i flipped when he started that foo fighters cover. it was so cool seeing him cover an artist/band so unlike himself. i thought the whole show was pretty amazing. the silohuette solo thing he did with that big curtain in purple rain was quite amazing. i never knew how awesome a guitar player was. i associated him more with his singing and dancing. very cool artist.

Adam

oh ya, and i was more concerned about how frickin sliipery that stage mustve been especially in heels :p .
