1939 Gibson Super 400
6 were made. Only one other known.
First Gibson cutaway. This particular guitar may be the first one.
 
Good god why is that at a church and not locked up in a case.

It usually is locked up in a humidity controlled room. He put it on a stand at the front and taught about how it was like truth in its value. He told me he was going to bring it, so I made sure I had my camera. It was kind of him to allow me to photograph it.
 
Just curious, does the church own it or a private owner?
Amazing photos, makes me miss my '45 L5
 
It’s a private owner. It was gifted to him by the original owner who acquired it new in 1944. Apparently it sat in a small town music store for quite a while because things were tight during the war.
