Do you think the price on PC parts will have a big drop after Thanksgiving, X'mas, and New Year??

My PC is dying on me, and I am crossing my fingers to get a new one I planned awhile ago, but I don't know if I should wait. What do you guys think?

Personally, I think the prices of PC componants are already pretty damn cheap. Things like motherboards, RAM, and hard drives are not going to get any cheaper - they will get larger and faster, so you'll get more for your money, but the basic pricing will remain the same.

I say if you want the stuff, and you have the money, buy it now - life is short, enjoy it while you can.

I agree with RW. there's always a common low end pricing schedule. Just think about how much you'll be getting done in the time you would have waited. I use www.pricewatch.com for basic non-audio based computer parts and have had really good results for pricing.

if your in the market for AMD procs then yeah...but not for a little while. They are releasing 2 new chips soon so the other chips are going to go down in price. Right now a 1.8 gig T is like 130 bucks...it should drop to at least 100 within 2 or 3 months of the release of the second chip.

i do recall ram going up for xmas and then back down, but i don't know if that happens these days. for the most part, prices don't change THAT much for xmas, but if you're alright with what you have, in 6 months, you'll be able to get more for your money.

sigh (blowing out smoke)

I guess am gonna have to get it now then. Really thought PC world works like every mall in US, lol

How about GC and other music stores!!? Mars went down, and I am going there soon for the 20% off deals :)

Whether you buy it now really dpends on what it is you want, and what you are willing to pay for it.
A rule of thumb is that the best bargains with remaining value are gained by riding the "tail end" of leading technology. Manufacturers recoup R/D costs at initial release because of high selling prices.Corporations are willing to pay these high prices for leading technology. Most home,or small business users cannot. Therefore they wait a while until the prices start to decrease.
