Pretty Vacant cover

This is a four year old recording I did in college as an assignment. The goal was to make a cover sonically as close to the original as possible. Neither of us had appreciable recording experience, so we learned along the way. As you can hear, the sonics are way off compared to the original.

The drums are also way off in some places. They were recorded in one take as we didn't know how to glue different drum takes together smoothly :laughings:

I don't have the ProTools session any more, so I can't remix it. Just wanted to share it with those who are willing to hear a limping version of a classic punk song :drunk: Although I can't correct anything, it would be interesting to hear what could be done to make the mix better/closer to the original, so don't be shy.

I did the guitar duties on this one.

Well done paw.

As you probably know, duplication is a good exercise in technique, but not really very creative otherwise, which is probably why your effort isn't getting much commentary

I totally agree with you on why I'm not getting much commentary.
Just wanted to share it with those who might be interested and hopefully get a few comments.
I felt like I had no right bumping this one as this is the "mixing clinic", and I really couldn't do anything to remix the song,
so I let it go into the abyss.

Guess I could've tried to master it, but then again, I probably wouldn't have enough time to do it.
