I was using a Behringer x2222usb mixer as started my quest of drum recording. I have 7 mics, Bass, snare, tom, tom, floor tom, two condenser overheads. I had finally gotten what was an ok set up to record. With the usb mixer I almost immediately grew tired of not having much control of individual mics once I had recorded onto a single track. Learning that firewire may solve my problem, I just bought an Alesis multimix 16 firewire. And Now that I have the freedom of recording each mic onto it's own channel, I'm back to square one as far as getting things tweaked to my liking. I went from nearly no control to having too much control. Add to that some new drum hardware and a reconfigured drum set up, I am hoping for some advice. My main objective would be to get things adjusted so that when I feel like playing and recording, I can just fire up the PC and mixer, and start recording. Anyone out there have any tips on a good way to go about this?
OH yeah, I record to either Acid pro 7 or Acoustica Mixcraft 5
