Well I need a cheap mic pre amp ,,,,, but I understand you get what you pay for in that area.... So I'v brought it down to two choices,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,The Presonus blue tube,,,,,and the Symetrix 302..........Someone please help me with this decision....If anyone out there have personal experience with any of these products feel free to let the opinions fly.........For my wallets sake....

Thanks for reading:)

Hi Deadboyy!

I have a Symetrix, and have not used the Presonus. What I can tell you is that the Symetrix is relatively neutral and clean. Good value for the money. The Presonus, I'm told, has some color. It is a tube hybrid unit.

I went for the Symetrix because I was looking to build layers of tracks as cleanly as possible within my low budget. If I use a character preamp for all my tracks, I accumulate excess color, read distortion, pleasant or otherwise.

If you want to hear the pros comments, go to

and do a search on each brand name.

Hope this helps!

The BLUETUBE is a smooth pre that does color some but used tastefully its a good unit. Also good for using after an amp modeler.
