Presonus firepod question...

I have a firepod and I've been doing some recording with it for a while... It just occured to me last night that it only has 2 mic preamps in it (i think)
Should I use my mixer for the other 6 inputs, and use the inserts to go into the firepod? I only use channels 3-8 for recording drums or if I am recording a reference track.

The Firepod has 8 preamps. However, I suppose you could use the pres on your mixer if they are better than those offered in the Firepod.

I think it's that Channels 1 and 2 are switchable from Mic to Instrument Level and 3 through 8 are Mic or Line Level...
