Does anyone have one of these or experience with them? Pros, Cons?
I'm currently micing an amp using a SM57/MXL990 and running it into a Behringer Euro mixer and then out to my M-Audio Delta 44.
I've been thinking about ditching the Eurotrack mixer and Delta 44 and getting the Firebox to do some home recording. I'm not recording a band or anything here, so I dont have much use for the channels provided on the mixer, and I think I can get a much higher quality recording using the Firebox and Tubepre that they offer. Would everyone agree here?
I've also been thinking about getting the Firebox along with their Tubepre and COMP16 compressor and sticking them all in the rack they have for that. How would all of that sound for some basic home recording? I wouldn't even call it a home studio, as I only record some acoustic and electric guitar tracks.
If I ever need the extra tracks, I can always get the Firepod anyways.
Is the price worth the product? Would i be better off spending my money on something a little better, keeping my recording situation in mind? Is firewire recording better over analog 1/4" / RCA input recording? Are the preamps in the firebox worth using, or would i be better off with using the Tubepre?
What does everyone think?
