presets not saving!

This is so annoying! So, lets say I create a virtual instrument track, and load up any VSTi. Then, I spend a bit of time getting the sound right while the song is playing. And as soon as I pause the song and play it again, BAM, it reverts to a some random preset (same one every time). It's happened with 4 different VSTi's in Studio One. Please help :( Thanks

In case you don't believe me :P Just please don't mistake me for those people who have Waves Platinum and yet don't know what DAW to choose :P

I wasn't trying to be Columbo. But a copied or cracked version could sometimes cause the type of problem you're describing. That's why I asked. :cool:
 
The most likely source of your problem is a midi program change command on your midi track somewhere. So you will mess around with sounds, get a setting you like, but as soon as you go back to the start and play, the program change re-initialises the VST.

I am not familiar with Studio One. I am used to either Logic or Reaper. In both those DAWS you can find and edit out midi program changes.

Another possibility is the VST itself. I have a couple of VSTs that don't remember their own presets, and, on reloading a project, set themselves to a default. However, once the project is loaded, the preset is selected, it will go on happily the way it should.
 
Does studio one not have a "save preset" prompt ? It must be in there somewhere. A setting of some kind.
Every so often, I discover or are shown some function of my DAW or my old portastudio that I've been oblivious to for years which, once I find it seems quite logical.
