Preferred OS ?

Hi All,

Is there a preffered OS for PC based recording... I run Win2000 Pro and its a very stable OS but maybe not the best for music?

I have Win2K and it serves me well for music, especially on my meager PIII 450Mhz Dell! I use N-Track and a Delta 44 and never had any problems. If you don't feel the need to upgrade to XP, stick with 2000, you should be fine!

98se, and 2K work well enough if they are tweaked right, but I have found XP Pro to be the best of the WIN OS's.

...it also deppends on your hardware. OS & hardware are working conjunction to obtain best performance. For example, if you use P4, then WinXP is the only choice to tweak all it's capability, while with P!!! Win 2K or Win 98SE will be just fine..

Yeah I agree with all, Hardware can dictate wich o/s will work smoother, 2000pro kicks on my k62 350.

xp is tweakable and much more powerful when tickled in the right stop.
