Gone
Since it has become common practice to recommend products that don't exist yet, either somebody's got a time machine or it's a lot of BS.

Since it's bullshit, and I too am a bullshiter, I'd like to go on record officially here:

The B1 is a crappy microphone and anybody who spends their future money on one is an idiot in the present. The VTP-1 is a horrible sounding preamp, a little too futuristic sounding IMHO. The RNMP sucks ass too and is not worth the price, especially considering the future state of the economy.

Now I may be wrong about all three of the above statements, but at least if I am wrong it'll be a good thing. :)

No, you're not completely off the planet here, but I think you've got a bit of a bee in your bonnet about these [pieces of gear, if I may be so bold. :D They're okay. Nothing more, nothing less.

But the one I'm pinning some hopes on is the DBRSM01. I think it has potential, not just in itself, but in the knock-on effect it will produce throughout the field.

Thats because its really a bomber....Duh! Common mistake though, bombers an microphones are so similar.

Peace,
Dennis

ok im busted....

the GidgeMaster-Beta tube mic stand isnt out yet...but it will be soon...and it will rock...oh yeah.....

I plan on ripping off your basic design and putting out a solid state version sometime in the next millenium.

Boy, I'm glad you're a bullshitter :D

if it was a crappy mic and a crappy preamp, would you say so?...dont answer that...theres enough bullshit in this thread.....Montana bullshit at that:D  :p

I'll take two of them....

Will you post to Australia?

There's the classic menu that keeps coming to mind with the talk of the RNMP: "Good, Cheap, Fast: pick any two." Since it's been years in the making and manufacturing, I believe it can very well be very good, as well as very cheap. Mark McQuilken is too damn anal, er . . . quality obsessed, to have let it out before it was great, so I trust it will be. What shape that will take remains to be seen.

Bear

Bear, all of this is true but the basic premis of this thread is a very big pet peve with me, that is people exaulting the virtues and recommending equipment that they have no experience with.

Really? Is that the basic premise of this thread?

Fuck me. And I thought we were just making it up as we went along.

I think this frenzy was created by all of the great "bang for the buck" deals that have been found in the past by people such as Harvey Gerst and others...the kind that makes you say "wow, this sounds really good and sure i could get better quality but only with alot more $$$"...

included items
Marshall mxlv67
Marshall mxl603
behringer ecm8000
delta dmp2 preamp
delta soundcards
rnc compressor
Mackie VLZ Pro mixers, etc etc

once ive bought a piece of gear based on Harveys recommendation (with a good return policy:D ) and one from JamesHE(where is he?) and havent been disappointed yet....but to assume something is gonna be great before it even comes out just annoys the dogshit outta me.....

and the GidgeMaster-Beta will rock.....

Yes Track Rat, I share your point exactly. How can you review something without playing it or using it or hearing it. Specs are one thing, ears are are what we should be using all the time. There will always be a few exeptions to the rule though. But ive always refrained from giving advise on something iv'e not used, even if I know the answer. It just doesn't have the same credabillity. An educated guess is exactly that?

And for a long time, I was the poster boy for the Neumann TLM-103 and the SoundRoom Oktava MC012s and the 33mm Lomo head.

Now, how much lower can you go than a $30 mic from Behringer? Well, for $49, there's the Radio Shack 330-3032 clip-on tom mic that looks a lot like the $249 Sennheiser E604. It's just as hot as the 604, a little less bottom and a little brighter, and pretty damn good for the money, BUT....

Unless you really need it now, wait till they put it on sale (and they will). I worked for Tandy in the late 70's and I know how they order stuff. With over 8,000 stores, their usual opening order is around 15,000 units. No way are they gonna move that many, so they'll have a blow-out sale at some point, and I believe it'll be soon. They'll probably blow them out for around $30 to $35 and that's the time to buy at least 3 or 4 of them.

Actually, I had a good time there. I was in the Computer Applications Department, figuring out what cool things you could do with computers, namely the original TRS-80. When the Audio Buyers eventually found out that I used to be in music, it started to get a little crazy. I did write the manual for the Radio Shack synth (which was really a mini-Moog), and I got to meet Bob Moog, a very cool guy.

ahhh...the Concertmate MG-1

That is crazy...how did I know that you'd have the only cool job with Radio Shack? BTW, I keep waiting for one of those MG-1's to show up in the local pawn shops. Someday... ;)

of course Radio Shack says its great for kick.....are you joking Harvey?.....is this pull Gidges chain while hes drugged up night?.....

i can get a AudioTechnica ATm25 Pro for $60 that ive heardo on a kick before......Radio Shack has that mic reg price 49.99......hmm......
