Can you use a preamp for vocals in a live show?

Well, gee...mics won't work without preamps and mics work in live shows.
So, the answer to your question is "yes".
But neither your question nor my answer will tell you what you actually want to know.
Do a little more research, find out what a preamp is and what it does and how its use might apply to a live show, then come back and ask the question again.

My guess is that you mean an out board boutique pre amp. and YES I do this all of the time.
You just have to remember that when you come out of the outboard pre you have to go into the line in put of the console! You may need a few special cables or adapters to do this right.
