I'm looking for my first preamp. I have a SM58 mic and only record vocals.
Anyone got any thoughts on the ARX e-pre (preamp) ($370 Australian). In terms of practicality, to me it seems to be perfect (it allows direct xlr input, rca jacks to a soundcard, a fits in a 5 1/4 inch bay. Found it coz I'm in Australia, and it is made here. But could someone tell me if they have used it and does it SOUND any good, or could someone scan the specs, and let me know if it is good on paper
Is comparable to the ART MP tube preamp?
Alternatively, are breakout boxes going to have good enough preamps for my equipment (I am buying an Audiophile 24/96)?
