preamp?

I'm very new to home recording...at least quality home recording. I have never owned a preamp and I don't know where to start. Any reccomendations for a low priced, yet decent quality preamp?

Would this be anything to look into?

It depends on how many channels you need. My first pre was a Studio Projects VTB-1, and I think it is a great pre for the money. It only has one channel though.

the dmp3 comes highly regarded as a great preamp...i'm thinking about trying out a couple myself.
