preamp to soundcard

quick question - i just bought an art tube preamp and need a cable to run from the output to my sound card. i know i'm looking for a 1/4" to 1/8", but is there anything more specific i should be looking for? thanks.

No, just get any 1/4" to 1/8" adapter you see at radio shack.

Usually the mono-to-mono.

If you want to record 2 mics at once then you'll need a stereo one and plug it into your Line-In jack.

So for mono (1 mic), something like this:

For stereo (2 mics), you can use something like this:

I'm not sure about the outputs on your pre, mine has stereo outs (rca and 1/4 inch) so I used a 1/8 inch splitter (stereo to 2 mono) on the soundcard end then conected the mono lines to my pre. Just decide if you want to record stereo or mono then get the cables/adapters to make the conections. Hooking them up is easy, once you determine what you need. Be sure to use the line in or aux in on your soundcard, do not use the mic in.
