Hi all,
I wonder if anyone knows if there's any point in my preamping a BR 1200CD Daw with my RNP? Theoretically is there any reason why the quality of the recording should be better than without?

Cheers!
Kj

The RNP is leagues better than the preamps in the BR1200... Line out to line in bypasses the BR1200's. That said - The (line level) circuitry is still the same "no real amount of headroom" stuff. So keep those levels "normal" (not "as hot as you can without clipping").

Many thanks ,MM.
I'd quit using the BOSS some time ago [before I had the RNP] because I hadn't been overly impressed with the quality of the vocal recordings [of which none now exist]. Having just used it with the preamp, however, I was impressed. Thanks for confirming that the increase in quality wasn't just down to my imagination!

MM, could you also tell me if the ADC1 Benchmark can be used to bypass the AD converters in the Boss
----- or would you suggest the following path? :-

SM58 / AT3525 > RNP > ADC1 Benchmark > Edirol UA-101 > Cubase SL3/ Windows 7
[Boss?]

Cheers.
Keith

You should be able to use the ADC1's digi out into the UA101's digi in (bypassing the UA101's converters), yes.

Please forgive me if this sounds a bit newbish, but does that mean in the chain I described:-
SM58 / AT3525 > RNP > ADC1 Benchmark > Edirol UA-101 > Cubase SL3/ Windows 7,

there would be no advantage ,in terms of recording quality, to include the BR1200 ?

Thanks.

Keith

Cheers.
