Thanks everyone for advice on buying a mike, I will go for the C1.
But can I torture you once again?
I am thinking of getting a Behringer Pro VX 2000 pre amp.
Has anyone used it or know of it.
Or is there any thing else that would be of better value.
All the best John.

Do a search in this forum and in "The Rack".. There's plenty of threads about preamps.

many many better options...how much do you wanna spend and how many channels do you need and what will u be using it for?.....

I need the pre amp for the C1 mike. All I have to record to is a Roland VS840 that I use for multi tracking in my loft, usually one track at a time. I have no space for drums and I use drum machines for percussion. I need to record vocals and acoustic guitars mainly. Tin whistles, flutes, and harmonica.
The sort of music is Irish Folk. There are only four channels on the Roland. But up to now I have had reasonable results. But I’m sure it could be better. I expect to spend around $ 200

The RNMP is due out this week or next... hold your horses for a few, if you can.... if not, be one of the 1st to try out that Studio projects pre with your Studio Projects mic... :)

a c1 through a JoeMeek is a beautiful experience on vocals....I have heard some good stuff recorded on the Roland machines, but 90% of the time outboard pres were used......

you should be able to get the VC3Q for 199.99.....

Gidge.......

I agree!

I've got a C1 and a JoeMeek VC1Q.
A match made in heaven........

:)

I heard the NT2 through a couple of digital roand mixers and it was very detailed and smooth. The top end was really nice and it the midrange was loooovely, on my voice anyway.

i agree with gidge, i have a c-1 and a joe meek (british channel) and it sounds very good. i was using one of those $80 nady condensers straight into my korg d-1600 and thought i was getting a pretty good sound, but, the c-1 through the meek pre blows it away

Question for close...

Did you manage to get the C1 in Ireland ? I'm finding it difficult enough to find anyone who stocks it. If so what was the price like ?

Cheers,

pAp.

I ended up getting it sent from the US for $229 from Bayveiw pro audio. A studio projects dealer.
The agents in the Uk were asking £265 inclusive of post and VAT.
It works out £70 less.
I emailed you the Studio Projects details.
