I want to add some J-station effects to my acoustic guitar sound. Is it safe to mike the guitar and send this signal through a pre-amp (audiobuddy by maudio), and then over to my j-station guitar input? The reason I ask is, the normal guitar input for the j-station would not be amplified, and I was wondering if sending an amplified signal to this inpu could possibly harm the j-station. Thanks.

yes it can be done.

I've been miking a sax with a Presonus BlueTube and sending to my J-station so I can record directly via S/PDIF. Works great and I'm getting some wild sounds.

Not trying to be smart,

I have a J-station,and I'm pretty sure the guitar input is hi-z only.
It's like a guitar amp input, not designed for a pre amp.

I'm not 100% positive on this, why don't you e-mail Johnson to be sure before you do it,I'm sure they will be glad to help.

Let us know how you make out,I'd like to know myself.

The word from Johnson

All right guys, I emailed them and they responded. Below is my original email and their response (their response assumes knowledge of the original email, so that's why I'm including it):

Original email:

Quick question regarding J-station input allowances. I want to
send my acoustic guitar signal through the j-station to add some
cool effects. I mike my acoustic and run this signal to my
Audiobuddy pre-amp (which has XLR inputs), and I want to send
the output signal from the pre-amp to the j-station "guitar" input.
Will a pre-amplified signal cause damage to the J-station? I am a
little leery of damaging the j-station, so I'd like to hear what the
company has to say.

Johnson reply:

The set up you describe will not damage the JStation. Just watch
the Gain knob so you don't overload the front end of the JStation.

That's all they said, which is enough. I'm going to keep the gain down and use this method.
