Can anyone suggest some good economical powered speakers to use just for recording/playback of electric/acoustic guitars? I'm using Audition for recording, maudio 24/96 sound card, 4 channel mixer.

Thanks
Rut

Hey Rut, I'm not sure how "economical" you want to get, but I bought a pair of KRK Rokit 5 monitors for about $150 each. I use them with my Digi002, and as far I can tell, (compared to the monitors I had before), these sound pretty decent. Just a thought.

The best $300/pr powered monitor I've heard is the M-Audio Bx5a. The best thing to do is to go to your local guitar center (or whatever) and try a bunch of them out--GC has a console hooked up to several sets so you can throw in a reference cd and A/B the various monitors. Happy hunting! :D

Two Sets

I use the Bx8a's from M-Audio which have great bass response and are relatively inexpensive....

I also have the Alesis Monitor One MKII's which have come down in price and sound good as well...

Good luck...

KRK RP6's or 8's are pretty nice. Event TR8 is also something you might look into.
