Schweeeet!

The bed is great, the extra bottom's a nice touch, love that melonball snare, and the rhythm guitar just shimmers. Lead vocal is excellent, excellent. You picked a great tune, too - congrats to powderfinger for a nice songwriting job.

Here's what I'd look at changing:
1) Your A part and B part (verse and refrain?) seem to have the same drumbeat, or close enough that I couldn't tell the diff. I'd think about taking out every other snare hit in B, or using a ride cymbal - something to set it off a little.

2) I'm not sure about the high harmony - the notes are right, so maybe it just needs to be farther back?

3) Unless you really want that cheep cheep 60's fuzzbox sound (I'm thinking Electric Prunes, Strawberry Alarm Clock), I'd rework the lead guitar. The rest of the mix has this real organic feel to it, then there's this harsh trebly fuzz lead. 'Course that kinda thing worked for Smash Mouth. So what do I know?

Still, a great sound. wish I could get my mixes to sit this well. Plus you got DAT VOICE!!! Great work, man. You rock.

This one's a bit of a departure from the other stuff of yours I've heard. It's not boomchikkaboom. It's more elegant. How did you generate that main pulse in the song? What is it? A bit of distortion on the guitar and a harmonica? It's really effective. It's the essence of that folkie drone you get in oldtimey trance music. I'll bet it isn't what I thought it was. I bet it's a synth. Reason I say that is because it doesn't sound really well-defined. It's the simultaneous strength and weakness of a lot of synth stuff - it's kind of diffuse.

The main strengths of this tune are three: it's excellently sung, it's well-put together, and it's well-written. Oh, and one more, I like it. :)

Good work, Chris. Sing your way through the healing of your hand.

Good job chris and good song powdefinger---This song is right up your alley and you did it justice for sure. I liked the guitar solo's with the flange-didn't sound like a guitar at first...Nice acoustic tone and good drum samples-the distortion on the guitar almost makes the whole mix sound distorted...I might have tried to smooth it out a little...Anyway-it's a real cool thing to do(cover another members song)-wish I had recording stuff at home....Nice job!

I'm bumping this partly to congratulate you on Every Chance I Get. I heard Jamal and Powderfinger's covers and had to search out the original. Really nice tune - I see why it got covered twice.

This one sounds really good too! Love the vocal parts. Nice blending of those electrics. They have sort of a harmonica like quality to them. All the parts fit really nicely together and fit the song perfectly.
