As I sit here at work listening to clif's X-Jam for the millionth time, it occured to me that it might be cool to put together a CD of instrumental tracks created on the MR-8.

I'm always looking for stuff to play that blocks out background chatter and would love to have an hour of stuff like this. It would also be a chance for us to share our MR-8 creations.

Thoughts?

Sounds good except for the fact that all I do is sing. I guess I'm gonna have to get my guitar out of the closet and tune it up.

Gospel - Can you sing in Latin? I'm picturing some of that John Dunstable stuff from the Middle Ages - could be very cool!

Basically what I'm talking about is stuff that's not painfull, but is capable of blocking the outside world. Whether it's people on the phone at work, a screaming kid at work, or, in my case, some idiot droning on in a bar when I'm gambling at Golden Tee (Vivaldi on my MP3 player works great in that setting...)

X-Jam is just so perfect that I have it constantly loaded at work - I find my self walking down the hall singing the 'burping' bass part, which is really frightening...

I know some Italian (I think it's Italian?). I don't know how to spell it and I don't know what it means. I'll try to spell it:
Oh Solemio. No, I'm kidding. But I do like Pavarotti. That man has some pipes!! My musical tastes are very broad. I sing in a gospel group that does 60-70 bookings a year. I just got through doing the vocals for bdbdbuck on a song he wrote that was classified (I think) as Rock n Roll. I had to use my grungy rock voice on it. I'm ready to do some more of this collab stuff. We need a couple more people who can sing so we can get some harmonies going. If some of you guys on here are as good of musicians as buck and clif we could really have something good. These guys really blew me away.

Well I am quite flattered! I am "burping" out another song as we speak. I bet you have listned to X-jam more than I have:)

mr x- (et al...)
a mr8 cd project would be interesting.
i'd love to hear what others do w/ their mr8.

i'd be willing to lend a track to such a project.

if anyone would like to hear my latest cd ("corp rock sucks")
feel free to email me your "snail mail" address to:

scott-a-hansen@uiowa.edu

and i can send it to you for free. it runs 78 min, 26 tracks,
and mr. x theres probably 40 min of "music to drown out
the background noise at work for you"--aka--ambient looped/noise
tracks, etc....(and 2 vocal loop , 8 vocal/acoustic songs)...
