Potential for greatness

Thanks for all the feedback. Alot of it was harsh but thats what i asked for. Yeah i guess i dont have any number one hits on my hand right now but i am thinking more about potential. As i said most of those songs are about two years old so i'll have to try and post some newer songs when i get some vocals down for them. I'll admit the recordings were of fairly crapy quality. They engineering was done by the singer/lead guitarist. This was when i first got interested in recording so i didnt know how bad it was. Drum kit was done entirely on SM57s and 58 using an 01Vs preamps which i dont think much of. The vocalist seemed to think that it was a good idea to cut the mids and bust the highs/lows for every track (except maybe the toms). So now i'll deal with the recording/mixing. I know "out of controle" is fairly basic 'cause its just guitar but what do you think in terms of recording quality compared to the other tracks. Any feedback into how the tracks could be improved would be great too (more techincal than songwriting). Thanks again and keep the replys coming.

I just listened to Out of Control and sounds like you guys scooped all the mids out again. The distortion is nice and creamy but the severe EQ'ing is ruining the tones.

In general all the recordings sound very distant, almost like a live garage recording. I was thinking you guys probably recorded live to a casette multitrack?

Just keep messing around and record ALOT. Record anything you guys can think of. Eventually you should get to the point where you listen to your recordings and you KNOW what sounds good.

Always strive for the highest quality you can get, even with demos. It's a lot like homework when you were in school, extra points for good handwriting.:D
