I don't if Bruce has a copy of it anymore, I don't know what happened to mine (?), but we did a cover of the Cure's "Lets Go To Bed", if he has it to post it came out OK.

Ha! That was on MY webserver, and YOU were the one who knew about it. I hadn't refreshed my IIS thing, and it wasn't showing that entire directory. I knew I never deleted it! Thank you Gidge.

Here's a cover that a friend of mine did in my studio last year.
It's a cover of the Motel's song "Only The Lonely".

Although the music was from a muddy karaoke disc (which I had to EQ to get it to sound decent), the vocal is extremely good on this one. It's this-close to the original!

All the other songs (except for "Yield") are also covers that were done by various bands/singers in the past year.

Is that a U87 I hear?

Ametth YOU ROCK!!!

Both songs had me completely lost in the tune. How did you mic those drums, guitar cabs, etc. Share some secrets man!!! Excellent work.

Covers are a means for me to re-familiarise myself with my gear when I return from a musical hiatus (i.e. leave a "real job" again), once a year or so.

My offering is a very unpolished, "one take per track" version of the Afghan Whigs "Debonair". While the original is fairly fiesty and angst-ridden, I've taken more of a mellow/bitter approach with my take on it. There's something about it's unpolished state which I really dig though.

It can be found here:

A man, his son, and a guitar

Ok, I'll post up a simple cover. My son, who is 4, always asks me to play "Saturday They'll All Be Back Again" by David Wilcox before he goes to bed at night....over the course of a couple months, he learned all the words. He's a super shy kid and doesn't sing for anyone, but one night I was out goofing around in my office/psuedo studio and he started singing along with me into my mic that was setup, so I started over, turned the mic on and this is what we got.

One mic, one time, so I didn't really mix anything. That clicky, crackly sound is my son bumping the mic and smacking a little...sorry. I was behind him with my guitar and mic. Not really meant to be an amazing sonic experience, more of a cool moment...if you have kids, you know what I mean. Also, I don't make any claims to have a fraction of the skils that DW has.

Thanks for listening.

Paul

I'm listening right now, Paul...

That's beautiful. :)

My boy is almost 7 months old now, and he loves to hear his dad play and sing. I can't wait to share a song with him, just like this one.

Buck

Thanks Buck,

It's cool when the kids get into the music--they can be your best audience when no one else will listen!

That recording is absolutley priceless i hope you have it backed up well.. My son is 2 and has started singing all my songs but as soon as I hit record there is dead silence ;-) Someday soon i'll get um heh..

Not really a cover, but...

This is my remix of the new Garbage single "Androgyny." The remix is for a contest over at www.AcidPlanet.com . It's the first contest there I've entered. Anyway, you guys may dig it.

Peace.
