Here's a youtube clip from us recording our latest album in London, fully analog, even had an emt plate (drewl)

Really nice!!!!
I like the drum sound you got there.

Thanks!
It's just a Trashdrumset with a garbagecan as tom (with a snare-drumhead) recorded with 2 mics
But at least i got a Ufip ride now :E

I thoroughly enjoyed that! Thank you.

Thanks man, I feel that youtube and compression has not been friendly to it, looking forward to getting it on vinyl in march, mastered from 1/2 tape :D

Top vid Nakatira.
The sound wasn't bad just youtubed.
Fully analogue - if only I could.

Dr Spring - I hear analogue goodness not flaws. I liked it!

Thanks, Nakatira & rayc
i have too little confidence in my abilities i guess

Tascam 424 Portastudio
Full of flaws as always
:E

I stumbled upon this one last night on soundcloud, but just wanted to pop in here and mention how much I enjoyed it.

I think it's a great sounding mix and a fun tune - one of my favorites of yours so far :thumbs up:.

Hey Dr.Spring,
What's the ghostly keyboard sound in the 2nd verse?
All sounds fab here....now you just need a nice big fat cheque from the Ad men.

You might want to change "ghostly" to "ethereal". Just in case he thinks you're asking him about that "ghastly" keyboard sound and his self confidence sinks even further :p

Seriously, it's a great recording Dr.

It's a Hohner Pianet T through a Phaser with fast setting

Thanks ya'll

Hey Dr.

I've just googled a Hohner Pianet T.....it looks a bit like my first keyboard, a Crumar electronic Piano. We used that through a phaser. It's so long ago now, I forget whatever happened to that piano. What I find interesting about your track is that all the sounds sound 'old school' and authentic. What I mean by that is the drums playing the ride pattern and tom fill, the descending chromatic guitar riff, the distinctive plectrum type sound of the bass (a standard mid to late 60's bass sound) and the 'ethereal' keyboard melody....ooh! nearly forgot the use of delay too. All of it is probably blended together with the frequency response of tape (natual tape compression too) to give an extremely authentic sounding track. I wonder what anyone under the age of forty makes of it? Do you know?

Genesis used the Pianet in their first few albums, it's another eletromechanical device like the Fender Rhodes (Hohner made a number of others like the Cembalet as used by The Stranglers, the Clavinet is the most famous one though).
The intro to "Return of the Giant Hogweed" is particularly interesting because Tony Banks ran the Pianet through a germanium fuzz box and produced a sort of guitar-like sound.
