Post a sample of good guitar tone.

OK, so if you get past the first two pages of this thread it will all be home recorded samples of good guitar tone and nothing else.
Starting right.....

I wasn't, for real, but whatever.

Looking forward to your tones.

I'm finding it challenging getting the modern DAW equipment figgered out
and I really only get a few hours a week at it.

But tomorrow is my day off, I'm going to try to finish getting the AXE FX II,
and protools working together with my Strat and me all at the same time.

Plus I want to spend some time learning to
program my drummer; he's a Maschine...

We'll see, maybe some crappy beginner tones tomorrow...

I'm not intending to troll your thread or take it off-topic, but it took some time for the thread to get going -more than a couple of pages - and for the clips to be posted. I really think it'd be worth your while to at least skim it and listen to a few of the clips. There are examples of every kind of tone, from emulated outs, to balls-out 100-watt tube stacks recorded in a separate house. :D

Yeah - I finally got far enough where there is some actual audio - only heard two so far - I checked out some amps today (posted them int he other thread) I am reading the whole Cave thread now - imagine that - a useful Cave thread! maybe there really is something to the whole 2012 thing

d00d, does that axe-fx II have a speaker out for cabs?
and have fun with maschine :D!
here's a tip to have your drums not sound like completely programmed robotic shiiid (unless that's what you're going for of course ;))- program a few different types or velocities (but sort of similar sounding) of snare, hi hats, and kicks in the same group.

since we're talking tone stuff,
I just ripped the guitar tracks from my tascam 8 track recorded demos that I posted on the site a year or so ago.
I was happy with them.
I just was shit at mixing.

So here they are, unprocessed wav guitar tracks uploaded to my never used bandcamp page
monolith.

I'm going to start one here, too.
I won't mention the cave.

Well here is my attempt at this kind of tone. Guitar (humbuckers, dimarzio)--->seymor duncan twin tube classic preamp pedal--->70s bassman--->vintage 30s--->sm57 (just one)--->profire 2626

Just the guitars no post eq or any processing (well... haha they are panned)

With drums and bass and a dump @150hz and 7Khz on the guitars (plus it's loud):

I really don't record these types of tones much honestly. I think my recto could do something similar to this possibly. The Bassman is 100 watts to cranking it is fucking insane (although it does break up nicely at higher volumes).

Well I thought that was pretty damn fine-sounding.

Tetrodotoxine

Great thread, check out this guitar tone, and let me know your thoughts:

Just in case, the mixing "board":

Plus it seems that the consensus is something about ear bleeding volume. I need tone from lower volume .
Not really .......... all of my clips are at bedroom volume ...... munch's are DI'd.
EDIT .... sorry ..... I see you've already discovered that.

Yeah, you only need ear bleeding volume if that's where your amp sounds best. Sometimes you gotta break windows. Sometimes you don't.

ya' know ...... I like ear bleeding volume sometimes.

This old player remembers the joy of standing in front of a big assed amp and feeling the power of it .................. there's nothing better.

Nowadays you don't get the opportunity too much in this world of letting the soundman control everything but when I get the chance ....watch out!
