Could someone please tell me the best way to go about transferring a song from the portastudio (cassette) to my computer to burn onto cd?

Thanks

Did you want to further edit your 4 track tapes in the digital domain as well or just get the mix of the cassette onto a CD?

Well, my finances are limited currently. I think it would probably be cheapest just to put the premixed song on a cd.

ahhh, the joys of being a mac user!

no need to worry about software, your mac is all you need in one package.

I sense you have a PC. You'll need hardware and software. What software is already installed on your 'puter?

Hardware-wise, a nice little Y-cable with two rca jacks for your Porta's Line Outs, and a 1/8th inch TRS for your soundcard's Line In.

How many times a month does this get asked here?

I have a mac laptop and and a pc. I can't burn with the mac, but I have a usb drive that I can use to transfer from the mac to the pc.

What program would I use on my mac?

Okay!

Here's what you do. Run OS 9, get Soundedit 16- you can get it for free. Get a dual-RCA to mini adapter. Run the RCA from the stereo outs on the portastudio into the mic input in back of your Mac (of it has one). Automatic analog to digital conversion, using soundedit as your recorder. I've been doing for years and have several releases out using that technique.
