I'd like to upgrade my current 4-track cassette to multitrack hard disk, with minimal investment. I'm doing all the mixing with the portastudio. It has RCA stereo out, so all I'm trying to do is find a card that has 2 analog RCA inputs (and 2 RCA outputs, for mixdown). Does such a card exist?

There are cards with rca jacks, but not the inexpensive ones. Most sound cards have mic in,line in,and line out all using 1/8" or "walkman" size jacks. If you don't want to use a commercial adaptor, you can easily manufacture from raw wire and connectors one to serve your needs.

Go to Radio Shack and get a cord that goes from 2 RCA connectors to an 1/8" stereo plug (assuming thats what you have on your current sound card).....

While we are here, what are the specs on your computer?(processor, ram, hard drive)?...you may be able to record straight to the computer and get better results and higher track counts.....

500 MHz Celeron, 192 MB RAM. I don't know the speed of the HD. I would like to record multitracks direct to computer, using only the mixing function of the portastudio.

500mhz holy moly!

You can do a whole lot with that system, assuming you have the space on your hard drive and you defragment it. If you're looking for cheap multi track software n-track is fine.
