PortaOne Mini studio cassettes - playable on other PortaStudios?

Hello, all,

I've got a number of master tapes from my old PortaOne Mini Studio that I'd like to digitize and the only way I can think to do it is to use a PortaOne to play the tracks. Trouble is, seems pretty hard to find a PortaOne Mini on eBay that isn't broken or over-priced, and I'm pretty sure my PortaOne is long gone.

My question is, does anyone actually know if any of the 4-track Portastudios that came after (like the Portastudio 414 MKII or the Portastudio 424, for instance) could accurately play the cassettes from the Mini Studio? I note the 414 and 424 both comes with DBX NR, so I'm hopeful.

Thank you for any info!
Phil

4-track cassette is pretty much all the same as long as you can match the speed and noise reduction type. The only other problem I see is head alignment.

A 424 mk-III will do the low speed 1-7/8 ips with dbx, so it should be compatible.

After looking at more manuals online, all of the 424 models should be both speed and dbx compatible, and they all also have tape outputs for all 4 tracks.

Thank you both for your replies, much appreciated! I'll look for the 4-track portastudios that offer the 1.875 ips speed and hope it works out!
