Hello Everyone,
Just yesterday I was thinking about how cool it would be if I had a way to record when Im not at home in my bedroom studio. (say when Im outside or at a friends house). and BING it hit me, a microcasette recorder! I went out and bought a small relatively inexpensive one. It's not near as good, (quality wise) as a regular cassette, (althought It is 60 mins) but It gives me a way to record on the go! Anyone else got a device like this? and how is it working out for you?

You could get a sony tcd-d7 portable DAT recorder for around 300 probably. I got one to record concerts many years ago.

try minidisc. it's a really clean sound, much better than cassette. i've even used line out to soundcard/sequencer. but the only dedicated line out models are obsolete. new ones only have headphone outs, not the same impedance. the model i got off ebay is the mz-r55, atrac 3.5 i think. get yourself a sony stereo mic for it too.

It is my opinion that a good analog tape cassette recorder (as, ie, Sony WM-D6C) and a good tape (as, ie, TDK MA-XG) and a good mic (as, ie, Sony ECM MS957) can obtains much more quality than other digital hardware, as DAT or MD.

Since 1978 I use only analog to record music live (classical, jazz, folk). My first equipment was a Sony TC-158SD, a Sony ECM-990F and Sony FeCr tape cassettes: today, after about 25 years all of these tapes have not lost anything.
