So I'm beginning a recording project probably next week, and I'll probably be asking tons of questions as I go through it since this is my first album-sized project.
One of the first things I'll be doing is recording an electric rhythm guitar part. This is a very basic, in the back of the mix chordal track. I'll be running the guitar through a Music Man tube/ss combo, recording it with an Audix i5. To help isolate the guitar from the drums, it'll be around a corner, facing away, and I plan on putting a heavy quilt over the amp and micstand.
Knowing how different materials work, wouldn't this make the sound bassier and/or muddier? If it does, aside from EQing the amp, is there anything I can do to diffuse bass frequencies? This is gonna be a close mic, I'd say about 3-6" away (however far it needs to be so there's no proximity effect).
