I was testing a bunch of free software the other day - I must have installed like 7 different programs. When I went into my recording software I was pleasantly surprised with a bunch of new plugins. One of them is a JCM900 modeller and is very basic but sounds suprisingly good. Don't know where it comes from but by adding some delay and reverb vst's, the sound was big and very true.

Does anybody know this plugin?

Sounds like the JCM900 modeler in SimulAnalog Guitar suite

From the FAQ . . .
What is SimulAnalog Guitar suite?

It is a suite of vst plugin with amplifiers and analog processors for guitarists, actually containing the simulation* of:

- Boss DS-1 (Distortion stompbox)
- Boss SD-1 (Super Overdrive stompbox)
- Tube Screamer (Overdrive stompbox)
- Oberheim PS-1 (Phaser stompbox)
- Univox Univibe (Modulations stompbox)
- Fender Twin 1969 (Guitar amplifier)
- Marshall JCM900 Dual Reverb (Guitar amplifier)

The 69 twin sim is pretty good too.

^^ Ya I have those dll files in my reaper VST and DX plugins directory pretty good for free VST dll files

I could not vote because I ain't paying for something when I can get just as good VST and DX plugins for free. guitar FX 3 is not bad either which is also free BTW.

between amplitube ..nomad and guitar rig3 my vote comes in for rig3 simply because the output is very tight and well worked out ..which readily sits in the mix.

on first impressions amplitube seems amazing but in practice it demands more tweaking to get it to a mix level that rig3 gives you straight off.

Well I've now demoed or own just about all of them as well as freebies and out board stuff, Pod, V-amp...and at the moment I've got to got with overlouds TH-1..

Easy interface, all in front of you...I like the ease of positioning mics around the cabinets and the effects are top quality as well as having really beefy amps (and going for $199 at Don't crack it)

Problem with things as they stand is there are no real improvements coming out in guitar software..each new version only gives more control, which of course is a good thing, but the actual sounds are remaining much the same..thats why some fo the older stuff still sounds as good imho

Revalver is alright I suppose.
Plenty of impulses.

A modeler comes in real handy when you live in an apartment, don't gig anymore and still want to record. That said, I just use a Pod.

I think the poll speaks correctly regarding Guitar Rig. Out of the choices its the better one. But they all SUCK when compared to tube/modling technology of the 90s. Ever since they came out with Line 6 and Digitech units modeling famous amps, the sounds got squashed down into the same fuzzy mess we hear today. We're being ripped off royally. A good reason why I turned around and bought a Digitech RP7. BLOWS away my Line 6 SPider IV and even Guitar Rig can't cut it.

I've been using Overloud's TH1 and it rocks. You can get some really awesome tones out of it. I used to be hooked on Amplitube (which is still a great product) but at this point I think TH1 has most of the other's beat. It just has a really authentic "analog" sound that other amp sims just can't reproduce properly.
