I'm wondering what the point of all these polls is... What do they do for you?

I read what people write on these forums because I'm interested in what other people think. Why their viewpoint is different from mine, what they know that I don't, what fresh information and perspective can I absorb are among the reasons I'm here, and on other forums.

Okay seriously--this doesn't go here, but since you're polling about polls, and so many of the old polls at least mention Jimi Hendrix, I'll put it here.

My name is WhiteStrat because of Jimi Hendrix. When I was about 12 I saw the Woodstock film and watched Jimi play the National Anthem on a white Strat.

From that day forward I became infatuated with the idea of owning a White Strat. I didn't get it till I was 27, and by then I didn't even own any music by Jimi, I wasn't heavily influenced by him, and I don't go for his tone or anything--but I never did shake the visual of the White Strat. 15 years later, I still have it.

Sorry for the hijack. Back to your originally scheduled programming...

This is a poll. Hijack away.

I'm eating grapes. I wonder who eats red grapes and who likes green grapes. I never eat red grapes. Only green ones.

Nothin's gonna change my world...

Now that's my kind of poll. Mostly green (they're great frozen in the heat of the summer--like tiny healthy popsicles!) but sometimes red grapes--good with cheese.

Hey Joe

Jimi was better.

I just learned this song a few days ago. A black guitarist taught it to me, and we hope to do some gigging in the near future.

I love that chromatic progression he introduced half-way thru the song.

I never learn covers (a real weakness when it comes to jamming with others) but this is one of the few I learned somewhere in my past. It's a cool song to play.

Too bad you're halfway across the world. :D We'll never get the chance to play it together...

I post on forums to inflict my opinions on you and to anonymously insult strangers. :D

Red Grapes are better. If you prefer green grapes you are an immature idiot. You don't have any understanding of the history of grapes and the role red grapes played. They were the innovators. Green grapes are not fit to even be mentioned with the red ones. Do not post again until you become a mature idiot.

I was lucky enough to see the dude live three times in the late 60s. Hey Joe was one of my favorites, and one of only two Jimi songs that I ever dared to do with a band -- Fire being the other. I always took the original arrangement approach though, rather than trying in vain to play those those wonderful blues-rock-psychedelic hybrid licks that one could sometimes figure out but never play with the same feel -- one of the things that set him apart from all that came before and most that came after.

My favorite was and remains Red House.

I've been trying to convince my band to do Up from the Skies. They won't do it, though. They say Hendrix is played out.

Sigh.
