Pod vs. J-Station vs. anything else with D1600

The GT2 doesnt use dsp but is closer to a cyber twin because it is done by circutry, Less amp sounds and no other effects but the amp sounds are far supurior to the other units out there.:cool:

Ditto. The GT2 is excellent for its price. IMHO, it reacts to your playing better than any amp modelers out there.

If you want to spend the bucks, the PSA-1 is also excellent and provides more variety than the GT2.

All that being said, hit a shop with the SansAmp, POD, J-Station, DG-Somp, etc. and let your own ears decide. Don't run them through cans. Use a monitor system in the shop's recording section. Don't be afraid to ask some sales idiot to set it up for you. That's what they're there for.

As far as what Charger said about mixing various distortion pedals with a Pod goes...I've tried similar things with decent results. Try a couple of the direct X plugins like Revalver or Cakewalk's Amp Simulator. DON'T use the distortion on them, just run them clean and let your stomp box do the distortion thing. I've gotten good sounds by running the mic/line out jack from my Fender amp into Cakewalk's Amp Sim that way too.

A home-made speaker box still beats them all though...but still produces some sound (maybe not so good in a house with small children alseep etc.)
