I have just bought a pair of Yam Hs80ms, and use the following equipment:
Cubase 5
PC 32bit Vista
Pod ux1
Oxygen 49
I've just connected up the Yams to the unbalanced jack outputs on the UX1, utilising 2 "professional low noise instrument cables"(jack to jack). Don't know where I got them from, and can't read the brand, but they feel well put together, and the sound out the Yams is good.
I went to buy a couple of jack to jack "speaker cables" ("Home recording for dummies" explains the difference between Speaker and instrument cables), from Digital Village, and the helpful guy said that as I was using active, not passive monitors, that I didn't need speaker cables, and the instrument cable I was using would be good enough, and that they use them (instrument cables) for their demo room.
I want to get the clearest possible sound from my Yams. What would you suggest as the best way of acheiving this? Continue using the UX1 to connect up to my Yams and buy new cables (which?) or start saving up for another audio interface (budget would be £100 or $150)
