im looking for a new amp. i was considering the pod pro. has anyone used this for recording a deftones-pantera sounding music? if so do you have any links so i can hear the quality. also, how is the pod pro for giging? is the bass pod worth having?

We use the POD for almost everything on guitar.........

My guitarist uses it live and on all our recordings. It has a sweet tone and the distortion sounds fairly pro. I like recording it rather than micing a cabinet and getting other noise.

Listen to the song "Not Forsaken", It's not Pantera but it'll give you an idea. All guitar was direct through the POD into computer. The distorted parts were played twice and then panned left and right. The tracks weren't messed with at all after that.

I dont like the bass pod and the bass pod pro for recording. Last summer, I bought a bass pod for the studio. When it's plugged in an amp, this is ok, you can get an interesting bass sound. But when u use the direct outputs, way less versatile than it looks. The compressor sucks. It compress fine, but add some high freq wich accentuate the "cling" of the bass sound. too much. I sold it. I have better results with my GSP 2101a guitar preamp, or my VoicemasterPro.

Many clients came here with a bass pod pro an the result was the same. The Line 6 guitar stuff is more decent to me. Flextone heads are very cool! :)

Bass pods arent BAD units, but, like I said, I get better results with other unit so...I'm not interested, and If what you are looking for Is a bass preamp, well I strongly suggest you to check the Sansamp bass preamps. You will get your Deftones/Pantera sound with. These rocks!!
