POD-A-LICIOUS

It's 11:15 p.m. and I've spent the last 3 or 4 hours on my POD after just scoring it brand new yesterday. Major sound concentration in your melon though...through the headphones.....the sound is like an I.V. drip of Jack Daniels......if that makes any sense? One thing I noticed is that all three guitars played through it(Les Paul, Strat and Danelectro) all sound way quieter when I turn sideways to the unit when I'm playing. The noise is reduced in this position about 80% or 90% of what it is when you just face the POD and your PC. When I turn my PC monitor off, the Pod quietens slightly, almost not noticeable though. I wonder if there is special pickup coating(waxing) or wiring that can be done to reduce the noise on my axes?

I've noticed some of that noise myself not only with the POD but with other effects units. Certain positions in the room relative to computer monitors, house wiring, guitar cable position and condition, and the guitars themselves. This is also enhanced by particular effects settings. But there is always a quiet solution. Anyway, the POD itself is addictive, isn't it? When I first got mine, hours would go by until I would realize how sore my back was getting or some other thing that would finally pull me away from it.
