I have hooked up my POD 2.0 to my PC to tak advantage of the deep editing functions but my PC cant detect it. I am not an idiot and have hooked it up properly and try many different things but it still cant detect it. Would it have something to do with my soundcard? I have a crystalfusion one, but I am not aware of any incompatibility issues.

What software are you using to access the POD?
Within that software you should be able to set the midi driver.
Find where that is and make sure your midi driver is enabled.

Good luck,

Nemal

Did you install the Emagic SoundDiver program off the POD 2 CD? I found the version off the CD to be very buggy. Try downloading the latest copy off of the Line 6 website, it's vastly improved.

Even if you're only trying to send MIDI commands in one direction the software will demand that you hook up both the input and output.

Done all of that! I'm guessing it is something to do with my soundcard (crystalfusion) how can I find out?

I don't own a POD, but I do have Sounddiver.

I had a problem with it once where it couldn't recognize all of
the midi ports of my midisport 4x4. When I installed SD it recognized them all and then one day, bam, Port A was gone.

I called Emagic and they had me bring up the win.ini (I think it was that file, I'm not in my studio...I'll check it out when I get home). In that file was a section where the midi ports were being set equal to 1 or 0...kind of like this:

midi port A=0
midi port B=1
midi port C=1
midi port D=1

The guy at emagic had me change the midi port A=0 to =1
and that fixed the problem. I don't know how I managed to set it to 0 in the first place...

I'll look into the specifics tonight. That might be your problem.

I had a look and right at the bottom of the win.ini file I found this:

[SoundDiver Line 6]
MidiIn_SoundFusion_tm__External_MIDI=1
MidiIn_TechnRSV_MIDI_Driver_Input=1
MidiOut_SoundFusion_tm__External_MIDI=7
MidiOut_Crystal_SoundFusion_tm__FM=7
MidiOut_TechnRSV_MIDI_Driver_Output=7

Now I don't understand it but I can guess, you see that TechnRSV stuff well thats a driver I installed that came with a cable to connect my technics keyboard to my PC (unsuccesfully) I reckon this is causing the problem I don't know to remove the driver (it doesnt uninstall) and I don't want to start deleting bits of my win.ini file? None of them are set to 0 though. Any ideas?

Don't touch the win.ini for now.

Two suggestions:

1) Open sounddiver and select the POD. Look at which midi port it is connected to. Do you have more than one port? If not you need to proceed to 2). If you see more than one midi port, try selecting the other port. Does that make a difference? If not proceed to 2).

2) Sounds to me like you should reinstall your sound card.
First remove the drivers. Then remove any software that came with the soundcard. Power down the PC. Remove the sound card. Power up the computer and then take a look at the win.ini.
This all assumes you have plug and play.

Are the Soundfusion drivers still there?
If not, good. That's a start. Then you need to figure out how to remove the other drivers before you reinstall the soundcard.

Let me know how it goes.

Did you try to contact Technics and find out how to manually uninstall their MIDI driver (I assume it was one of those serial port things)?
