I didn't see any threads on this. If you're interested in Microsoft's upcoming offerings in the realm of multi-touch displays and surface computing, check this out:

The Lemur is a multi-touch control device that is already available, but expensive and rather esoteric. Once this stuff gets into the mainstream, the musical applications will be pretty amazing. There is already a pretty cool "modular synth" system using this kind of display.

touch screen is cool and all, but really I think it would wear you out. Can you imagine sitting there for several hours at a time moving your arms about as you edit, mix, compose, etc? I think my arms would get tired after awhile. The mouse is great because it just takes simple movements to do so much. Minimal physical exertion

I look at it the opposite way. Using different and multiple movements and doing multiple controls will allow us to create new musical instrument controllers and new ways of recording and mixing. Perhaps more important, the variety of motions will reduce the incidence of repetitive stress disorders.
