It´s possible to apply plugins to a certain part from a "one take" track??.

Yes, but only with destructive editing. Right-click on the clip, select Audio Effects.

Do you mean on the fly? Or destructively apply it?

Either should work:

To do it on the fly, you may need to use a bus and adjust the volumes accordingly. Using envelopes you should be able to send the portion of the file to be affected to a bus with the plug on it. And not send it the other portion of the time.

Or Desructively, select the area in question and process it, or apply the effect as it were. It should only apply to the highlighted materail.

All else fails, cut the file, and put the area in question on another track, perfectly aligned of course, and have that track have the plug-in on it. You should not be able to tell the difference.

You got options.

DS you mean: select using F9 and F10 keys???. I think I have tried to select a portion of the track using the mouse but it highlight the whole. To be honest I didn´t have enough time to experiment with SONAR, I´m working with my band at home, making some stuff. And they are asking if this is possible, they say: "...we want some delay over here...", you know what I mean.

Thanks

Tama

...to apply plugins to a certain part from a "one take" track, you should split a clip on particular start and end point, then apply the effect to the clip. BUT IMO, I never do destructive editing in SONAR. It would be easier and better if you send the clip over the Tools to your audio editor app (like Sound Forge or Cool Edit Pro, etc...) and apply the effect there. Send back the result to Sonar...

Or, of course, you can grab the section of audio that you want to have the different plugin/processing on and move it to a new track. You then have full control over the new track.

...or if it's an "automatable" plugin you can use an FX envelope to control when the effect is to be applied and when it isn't.

I agree with James, I would try very hard to not do this destructively. I think there are several non-destructive options, as these bright inviduals have shown you.

P.S. To clarify what DS Sultan was suggesting, you can put the effect on an Aux Bus and then automate the track send setting using an envelope to control when and how much of the effect to apply.

I do know what you mean... but if your working with a one take track, then you don't have many options that don't affect the whole track.

When I say select an area, you will need to cut it first, then select the area by clicking the cursor on that portion of the wave file and it should highlight just that area. Then you can use whatever effect on just the selected material. F9 and F10 are not gonna do what you want in this case, unless you can tell it a start and stop time. This method however, requires just as much precission as using the envelopes as you still need to select the proper start and stop times.

And as stated above, using the Aux bus is exactly what I was meaning with my previous post.

Let me know if you need more help with this.

You dont even have to cut it. Alt-drag accross the section highlights it. Then do your 'edit, apply effect' or better, copy-paste to a new track...

Oh oh. Was that another from the Department of DORD?

DORD!:D :D

Or Alt-drag... yeah yeah...

Problem is with an alt-drag, you still have to be very precise with regard to your start/stop times. I think a cut will give you that precision no questions. Unless of course that aint an issue, in which case... alt-drag babay!

Monty P. all the way.
