plugins for Guitar

Hi, i have Cakewalk, Sound forge ,etc., and a Sounblaster Live!,and wanna ask if any of you have some ideas about wich plugins (and settings of them i.e. Delay ,settings)are nice to put to a recorder guitar (clear - distorted), and get as close as possible to a professional sound.Also about some tricks if you know them (i.e. double tracks,etc).I ve playing for more than 15 years, but so little with PC recording, hehehe.
Any help would be appreciated !

For guitar FX Plugins, I found ReValver is one of the best.

OK, forgive me for not saying this:
This is my gear:
Fender Stratocaster
Marshal Amp 65w
Shure Mic
PC (Sonar,Soundforge,Cakewalk)(Sounblaster LIVE!)

(Also got a BOSS DR-5 Rythm machine, but i got no problems with it cause it gaves a good recording sound)

So the main thing is: how can i get a decent sound from the guitar with that gear (how to plug the guitar or amp to the pc or should i mic it?,effects,tips and tricks ,etc)
