I heard there was a plugin that would compare 2 wav tracks and the add a certain amount of eq on it so it would ''sound more the same''.

Anyone know the name of this?

I'm not looking for comments , just the plugin ;)
 
There are various FFT based programs that do this, but the concept is fundimentally flawed. Voxengo.com is a good place to start if you want to explore this yourself.
 
That looks like a comment to me. He just wanted the plug-in. Period.

there is a "matching' eq section, where it reads one wave file and it takes a calcualtive snapshot of the overall sound ,............................. and you can then load "your" sound wave file, it will take a calcualtive snapshot. then there are a few sliders/knobs that allow you to match it by a varying degree of percent ( 10% not a very good match, to 100% exact match).

great tool. i use it for mastering
 
Steinberg has a plugin called FREEFILTER (www.midi-classics.com/p10092.htm )that did it.It takes a "photo" (source) of song"A" frequencie (your reference), then compares with a song "B" (that you wants to modify) ,show you the differences between A/B and gives you the necessary frequencies to let your "B" song sounds more similar as possible to "A"(reference).

But, take care:
I try to use this plugin and it doesn´t makes any miracle.
Remember that two songs can be almost identical in graphic frequency and sounding TOTALLY diferent.
And this plug in DON´T MODIFY the basic quality of sound.
But can be worth to try...

Using your ears is MUCH quicker and MUCH more accurate of a way of trying to "mimic" the EQ spectrum of another sound...

Sorry - That's a comment. Free-Filter, Hair-ball, FFT Mirrors - They really don't come close.
 
I'm looking for a plugin that will mix my song for me and make it sound like a top 40 hit. :eek: :eek: :eek:
 
Even if you match eq curves, two different songs and arrangements created by two different artists on different gear, in different studios, mixed on different gear, etc., etc., etc., *will not* sound the same. Eq is only one variable.

It may be useful as a study tool, but if you take the eq curve off a top ten hit and apply it to your song, it won't make your song sound like the top ten hit. There are so many other factors involved.

But again, possibly a good study tool. I sometimes use an RTA, or that "fre-qualizer" plugin mentioned earlier, to study commercial mixes. But that is usually aimed at answering very specific questions I might have, and I do my own adjustments from there.

But the plugin, as you just described it does not exist.

well, imma commentin' anyways since everyone else did...

yeah, that sounds like bullshit. why would you want to match the eq of another songs? are you recording the same song, same gear, same room?? how would it benefit you in any way? you dont eq everything the same...
 
I think it's preset 33.................. :rolleyes:

Leave the threshold alone though. ;)
