I guess cause I dont use them, I dont exactly
know what plug-ins are, how do they help or enhance your music.

I mean I have that XG-something something in
my computer, but I dont focus on that, I'm
more create from the bottom up, dont use samples much. So can someone explain what
plug-in are, and what they do as to help you
with your music ? thanks

A simple answer is that plugins are software you add to your recording program that is not necesseraly manufactured by the same company but is compatible with it. You can get things like EQ and compression to effects and additions to your program with plugins. They come in as many different price ranges (ie quality) as any other recording gear.

Thanks Dan, so basically it's just to make better what you have already. I have a
PC/MAC PC-Cubase/ MAC-Digital Performer
and on both I dont use the cards, I e.q.
on my mixer ( I like hands on mixes )

I like the raw sound, then tweak on my mixer
to embellish the kick, hihat, snare etc...
lock it all in and vwala, so I guess it's just EXTRA stuff to add on your computer for
the mix.

Yeah bassically. Its not essential recording gear at all but it helps to power up the programs your already running by adding things it doesnt already have or at least not anything worthwile.

Since you're running cubase, you have a wealth of free VST plugins at your disposal. You might just try a few out.
